Does your own thoroughly-bricked-in back yard count? C.C.’s been growing sage and basil in pots, and even though I haven’t put in a lick of work, it somehow makes me feel very progressive.

It’s all good with the sage and basil, but for it to be truly guerrilla, you’re going to have to step outside the bricks.

My cherry tomato plant is going strong, and the chard is doing nicely. Garlic chives turn out to be good for those with shorter-term attention spans. Earlier this week I bought a bush bean plant and a pepper plant to see how those will do. All on my upper-floor, northern-exposure porch.

Then again, there’s this lovely little vacant lot on the next block I have my eye on.

We should get together and make a salad. We could eat it in the vacant lot. It would be a start.
